IDC doesn't sell cranes, hire cranes, maintain cranes, or run a workshop. That's not an accident — it's the design of the business.
Equipment sales and repair work create different commercial interests. IDC's role is to assess the engineering evidence and explain the scope the crane needs.
That extends to how the annual inspections run. Independence is a condition we apply, not just a principle we hold: the person assessing a crane is never connected to the company that owns it. That holds across our inspector network, not only for work our own engineers carry out. And what never gets delegated is the judgement. The engineering findings, the recommendations, and your fleet's compliance record are IDC's.
When IDC assesses a crane, the finding is driven by engineering evidence and the applicable standards. If a crane is compliant, we say so and you keep working. If work could improve reliability, we lay out the options with costs and trade-offs and let you decide. We explain the engineering basis for each recommendation so you can make an informed decision.

Every report IDC issues is peer-reviewed by a second engineer before it goes out — possible because IDC is a team of crane engineers, with professional registrations covering every Australian state that requires them — not a single name on a letterhead. The same depth is what keeps inspections scheduled around your operations: the work doesn't wait on one person's calendar. Findings reference the specific clauses of AS 1418, AS 2550, and related standards — not generic boilerplate. Calculations are checked. Assumptions are stated.
That matters because our reports get read by people who know what they're looking for: WorkSafe, insurers, principal contractors, and your own engineers. A report that can't survive that audience isn't worth the paper. Ours are written for exactly that audience, across more than 600 major inspections.
Our major inspection program is overseen by a CICA Endorsed Engineer, and our team includes CraneSafe-endorsed engineers.
